Experience and background

Mark is a highly experienced Non-Executive Director, Chair and former CEO with over 40 years’ leadership across infrastructure, engineering, transport, and major capital programs.

He has led and governed some of Australia’s most complex, large-scale projects, including serving as CEO of NorthWest Rapid Transit, delivering the $5B Sydney Metro NorthWest PPP—one of the few mega-projects globally completed on time and on budget.

Mark now holds a portfolio of board and governance roles, including as a member of the Audit & Risk Committee for Sydney Metro, providing oversight on one of the largest public transport programs in the world. He is also a Non-Executive Director of Aeria Management Group (Bankstown and Camden Airports) and Chair of Council at St Paul’s College, University of Sydney.

As an executive coach and mentor with Stephenson Mansell Group, Mark works closely with CEOs, C-Suite executives and Project Directors. He focuses on enhancing leadership  effectiveness, improving delivery performance, and strengthening executive–board relationships—particularly in high-stakes, complex environments.

Drawing on deep experience as a long-term CEO and board director, Mark brings a pragmatic, commercially grounded approach to coaching. He is known for helping senior leaders develop high performance teams, navigate risk, align strategy with execution and communicate effectively with Boards.

Approach

As a mentor, Mark is passionate about improving the efficiency of organisations through enhancing the effectiveness of leaders and staff. He understands how to get the best out of people at all levels and from disparate backgrounds and abilities. He can work with leaders and teams to optimise working relationships and create high functioning work places.

Qualifications and memberships

  • Mark has a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from the University of Sydney.
  • He is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
  • He has completed Executive Development programs at Stanford University, the Macquarie Graduate School of Management and the Institute of Administration (UNSW).

Personal insights

Mark is Chair of St Paul’s College, Sydney University and a former Chair of Engineers without Borders. Mark is married with three children and enjoys skiing, rowing, running, travel and rugby.
